Erica Thum joined HOK in early 2017 after working for a number of years as a landscape designer at Parker Rodriguez, Inc. She has been responsible for the design of both public and private landscape amenity spaces, streetscapes, plazas, and public parks. Ms. Thum received a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from University of Maryland in 2013, where she also won the 2013 Maryland ASLA Student Honor Award. During her final year of graduate school, Erica served as project manager on a team design for the National Agricultural Library which won the 2014 Maryland ASLA Analysis and Planning Honor Award. Erica has worked on a variety of project types and scales, locally and internationally, including projects in the Middle East and Asia.

Ms. Thum is also freelance photographer in the Washington, D.C. area. After receiving a BA in Photojournalism from the University of Missouri - Columbia, Erica spent two years working as a staff photographer for the Ithaca Journal in Ithaca, New York. Erica's photos have been published in The New York Times, USA Today, The Boston Globe, The Binghamton Press & Sun Bulletin, The Elmira Star Gazette, The Journal News, and The Democrat and Chronicle.
